The centre's missions:
- To advocate and conduct training, cooperation and development programs
in the areas of education, science and culture, in order to:
- Promote the territory's development in these areas;
- Promote the publication of artistic and literary works that may reflect the cultures and concerns of local, regional and international communities;
- Promote the study of, and education about, local values, traditions, customs, legends, conventions and natural heritage;
- To coperate with local, regional and international authorities in fulfilling the objectives of UNESCO, especially in the area of youth affairs; to bolster liaisons with other UNESCO offices, and to promotes debates, seminars, forums and conferences related to UNESCO or similar authorities.
- To promote and coordinate the development of UNESCO's associated schools network; to disseminate first-hand information about UNESCO, about UNESCO's national members, as well as about associations or associated schools in which local or regional communities may be interested.
